IT Support & Technician

  • Mr Nick Richmond

After completing a BSc (Hons) in Physics, Nick went onto postgraduate study in Electrical Engineering before completing his PGCE in Physics and Mathematics.

After several years teaching in South Wales, Nick changed career and started work with a large Communications company as a System Engineer, gaining his systems and networking certification on the way.

Finding that he missed teaching, Nick joined the Open University as a part time Associate Lecturer in 1997, teaching in the faculty of Mathematics, Statistics and Computing and recently gained his Associate Fellowship of the Higher Education Academy.

He now combines his two interests, education and IT, by providing specialist educational IT support for primary schools in Plymouth and South East Cornwall.

When not working, Nick's’ passion is his camper van and takes every opportunity to get away to the great outdoors indulging his love of walking, cycling and canoeing. This summer he embarked on a tour of Scotland in the pursuit of Munro bagging, which principally consists of climbing mountains higher than 3000 feet and providing fair game to midges!
