Immersive Learning

The ‘Creative’ Curriculum - Opening up a treasure-box of wonder…….

At Egloskerry we have a 'theme' approach to delivering the curriculum with a big emphasis on role play to elicit discovery through play and immersion in learning. Information about our curriculum is added to the website termly on our ‘Class’ page.
A good example of this work was our topic 'Remembrance'. We held a 'Remembrance celebration week' where the children immersed themselves in this topic through music, art, design and technology, outdoor learning and role playing.
Class 2's Anderson shelter home learning project.
We aim to provide your children with a broad and balanced curriculum. Children are required to study Literacy and Numeracy each day. They also study computing, Science, RE* (core subjects), History, Geography, Music, PE, DT, Art and PHSE (Personal, Social, Health and Emotional Development) and a Modern Foreign Language (MFL).

*Parents should note that they have a legal right to withdraw their children from RE if they wish, providing alternative work.

Some of these subjects are taught weekly and others half-termly in blocked units. Children’s work is recorded in a variety of ways – written, drawings, tables, graphs, photographs, models etc. Children learn by talking and doing. Not all activities will have a recorded outcome but the experience will have been important.
